A ready helping hand, a ready innocent smile; a good wish in the heart, a friendly part on the back that, essentially, was Pallagatti Adavappa. No ill-will, no dissembling, no hypocrisy. He had the largeness of heart and nobility of mind. He had great wealth, but he had the great wealth of heart. His social conspicuity was not because of the wealth he had, but because of the wealth he gave. He gave freely for the betterment of society. His social sympathy was of a practical nature, his chief desire being to leave society better than what he found it.
